All Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) hearings are digitally recorded. They can provide you with the reasons for a decision if you are involved in a QCAT proceeding.
This is a free service.
You should apply within 14 days from when the decision takes effect. This is usually the date the decision is made (unless the decision says otherwise).
They will post you a copy of the reasons—or if the reasons were provided orally at the hearing, you will be sent an audio recording of the reasons on a compact disc.
If you are unable to access an audio copy of reasons (e.g. if you have a hearing impairment) please advise QCAT when requesting reasons.
QCAT has 45 days after your request is made to provide the reasons, unless the President of QCAT extends the time.
QCAT does not have to give reasons for some procedural decisions in relation to the proceedings.
See sections 122 and 123 of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act 2009 for more information.
